Story
We are Miles Cahalin and Paul Hodge, teachers from St.Mary's Catholic Primary School, Chorley.
Our aim is to raise money for projects close to our hearts by walking the Ribble Way, a 71-mile journey, from the source of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales to its mouth at Longton, Preston. We plan for this to take 4 days, walking approximately 18 miles per day, with 3 overnight camps. We will carry all equipment and food on our backs.
Our challenge will begin the day after school finishes for the summer holidays - Thursday 21st July.
This will be a challenge for us both. Whilst we enjoy camping and the outdoors, doing such a journey over this time period is certainly out of our comfort zone!
Cancer is a problem that most people come in contact with in some way in their lives be it a personal diagnosis or a friend or loved one who needs support in their own time of need. To support Cancer Research UK in the fantastic work that they do in funding scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner we intend to give half of any money we raise to the charity.
The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) are a group of volunteers who raise money for the good of our school community. The money raised by the PTFA is used to broaden and develop the curricula and extra-curricular opportunities, enhancing learning for the pupils at our school. To coincide with its relaunch, we wish to donate the other half of the money raised to support ongoing and upcoming projects. These include a historical timeline mural for the school hall, an outdoor prayer garden and greenhouse to develop an enthusiasm for gardening.
Thank you for taking the time to read 'Our Story'. Any donation, large or small, will be gratefully received.
Mr. Cahalin (Miles) and Mr. Hodge (Paul).

8 years agoHuge thank yous to all the people we met along the way who gave support, encouragement and at some points even directions. A very kind gentleman in Horton in Ribblesdale even made a donation to the cause. 👍 Thank too to Mrs Hodge for driving two ambitious walkers to the starting point and collecting two weary wanderers at the finish line.

8 years agoWe did it! It was a very gruelling last day with the end always seeming to be just beyond reach but we got there eventually.
