    Story

On Wednesday 22nd July, Rob suffered serious and potentially life changing injuries whilst flying in the British Hang Gliding Nationals at Laragne-Monteglin.

The insurance has been excellent in covering Rob's immediate care and repatriation back from France but there are some practical things that it does not. Costs to help his family to simply be at his side were first and foremost, and there will now be ways in which money raised can help his recovery in the UK. Technology will be a great assistance in both communication and in making his life easier whilst he makes the small steps towards a more independent life.

Thank you for all the practical and emotional support from everyone - I know the family are extremely thankful to everyone who has helped so far at this difficult time. It is always hard asking for money but if you feel able to contribute a few pounds to help that would be very much appreciated.

      Update from the Page owner

Doctors are happy with how Rob is progressing and he is spending more and more time off the ventilator. The care is amazing and he remains his positive self. Nothing more to report as yet but will do so as soon as we can.

Rob is now completely off sedation and has started physio to encourage movement. He is still partially on the ventilator via the trachy and due to this he is unable to speak properly right now. Once completely off this will obviously be better but it will take some time owing to the length of time he has been on the ventilator. It is appreciated that lots of people wish to visit but for now it is asked that this remain family members only.

Rob doing well. Two days ago he had a trachy to help him get back to normal breathing and also remove the tube and sedation. Stats are subsequently better and the next step is to complete the move off ventilator. Visitors still only close family for now please. Continued best wishes to Rob and family from all.

Jen and I visited Helen and the family today and afterwards went on to see Rob. It is hoped he will be off the ventilator and consequently off sedation in the coming days. His rugged good looks are returning and behind the drugs he is aware and can respond. It will be a little while as yet before he is ready for mass visitors. Will update here as and when.
