Story
Not every child is as fortunate as Simon. He experienced the joy of making music and could afford music lessons. He enjoyed playing violin because it was an activity that he could take part in, making excellent progress. Simon suffered from Chronic Brittle Asthma and was very poorly, missing school and his friends.
Music helps to transform young lives. In Simon's case, music helped him to be a part of a community of committed passionate young people. He sadly passed away on 16 August aged 12.

9 years agoDear generous donors On behalf of Simon’s family, we want to say how much we appreciated your support during this extremely difficult and devastating time. Your deeds, words and memories about Simon have lifted us up. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. As you may have seen, together we more than surpassed the initial crowdfunding target of £2,000 to create a legacy Fund in Simon's name. After all the pledges have come in and the fees have been deducted we will confirm how much was raised in an update next week. If all the pledges are honoured, this campaign will have raised over £6k. We have continued fundraising for the fund via this new link http://bit.ly/1YLrVlz which is on Virgin Money Giving charitable site, and your donations will be set up as gifts towards Simon’s legacy fund via Awards for Young Musicians. On behalf of our "Angel Boy" Simon thank you so much for being part of the first campaign. Amazing. Love and Hugs xxx https://www.facebook.com/CelebratingSimon

9 years agoWe more than made the target - Thanks to your generosity, Simon's legacy will not only provide the means for other young people to have the chance to learn the violin and enjoy the power of making music, but also inspire other young people to give back to their communities. Love!

A worthy tribute to a lovely young boy who loved music. Helping others achieve their dream, while dealing with your own grief is a wonderful thing to do. My thoughts are with you all.

As Simon's Auntie and Godmother, I've watched him accept his acute illness with grace and sweetness. Simon is an Angel Boy, then and forever. I am a Trustee for Awards for Young Musicians, the charity that ensures the funds go to deserving children with real musical potential.
