The Rua Reidh lighthouse was built at the beginning of the 20th Century having been designed by the famous Lighthouse Stevensons. Rua Reidh is located on the northern tip of the Gairloch peninsula in Wester Ross, North-West Highlands. It is perched upon cliffs overlooking the Inner Minch - the Minch itself having some of the deepest waterways in Britain. From Rua Reidh, you can see some of the most glorious marine life in the whole of the UK.

The funding will help to preserve and maintain public and community vehicular access to Rua Reidh, and where necessary help fund the proposed formal adoption of this 3 mile road which runs from the nearby village of Melvaig right up to Rua Reidh. The costs may include legal costs relating to preventing private property owners from denying vehicular access, such access having been free for some 50 years. Surplus funding will be used in equal share to help the National Lighthouse Board and Gairloch Community Council in continuing it's great work in preserving such a historic landmark for all to enjoy
