About 10 months ago a group of ladies from Reigate decided it would be a bit of a giggle to enter the London Marathon. We all dutifully sent off our application forms to be entered in to the ballot, October 2015 came and we waited in anticipation to see if we had been given a place………well one of us did ME!!! OH HOW WE LAUGHED!!!

December came and my training began in earnest. By the beginning of February I was on track and I was up to 14 miles, fabulous, then injury hit and I was unable to run for 6 weeks. Finally, today, I ran 14.5miles and I am hoping to run 18miles on Friday 8th April.

The running club ladies, along with ex Olympic Athlete Shireen Bailey, she still looks like an Olympic Athlete to me, have been inspirational and give me no end of encouragement, putting in the miles and not forgetting a sense of humour when mine seemed to have abandoned me!!
At the beginning of my Marathon journey I decided that I would raise money for The Patrick Evans Foundation. Catherine, Patrick’s Mum, is an amazing mother, friend and now the most Glamorous Granny in Reigate. The Foundation raises money for lots of worthy causes, however, what touched me most was that they try and help those through bereavement and, having lost my Dad on 1st April 1990, 26 years ago today, I couldn’t think of a better way to remember him. If I had been able to access this support network all of those years ago, it would have made life a little easier for me and my sisters.

I appreciate that we all get so many requests for sponsorship, all of the time, and I completely understand if you are unable to sponsor me but, if you are watching the Marathon on Sunday 24th April, please say a little prayer that I will get to the finish line……
