Story
St Mary's Church is a beautiful church set in Carleton Forehoe, Norwich. This church holds a special place in my heart as on Saturday 28 May, Pete and I were married there. Not only that, but over the last 6 months, the Rector, Rev Tim Weatherstone, Church Warden, Ivan Revell-Burrows and the whole congregation have made Pete and I so welcome.
On Monday 30th May, between the hours of 1030pm and 0300am, an awful attack took place on the Church. Much of the lead on the roof of the church was stolen, so much so that you can now see daylight through the roof from the inside. This, coupled with the bad rain and wind we have had over the last few days, has lead to a lot of damage also to the inside, including an over 400 year old bible which is now waterlogged beyond repair.
This is one of those things that many people never hear about or realise the devastating impact of, unless they are close to the local people and the building itself.
For this reason, Pete and I would like to try and raise money towards the vast amount of work required to repair the roof.
The Police have been informed and with the help of close by CCTV, we are hopeful the culprits will be found.
Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated and we hope to keep you updated on any further developments.
