Story
We are doing a coastal walk on the north Cornish coast to raise money for Support Nepal, that was set up by some Mums from Milton Abbot, to raise money to rebuild a school in the village of Khare in Nepal, that was destroyed in the earthquakes of May 2015.
Enough money was raised from a concert in February 2016, to rebuild a classroom, but any extra money we can give is needed to equip classrooms and provide better facilities for the school.
It is not a huge walk, (20 miles) but we felt it would be wonderful to be sponsored, however small an amount, for this cause. We often raise money for our own children's school and it seems right that we should also raise money for children in other parts of the world who have lost their school through disaster. We hope to link Milton Abbot Village school with Khare school so that the children can learn from each other. All amounts raised will go directly to the Support Nepal school fund to be spent directly on the Khare school and children.

8 years agoBuilding work of the school in progress! It has sometimes been a difficult task as the monsoons have been very heavy this year in Nepal, and extra drainage has been required. We are still raising funds as there is much to do, and to pay for. We hope to do another concert in Tavistock St Eustachius Church in February, to help with all the essentials required for the school, including a loo block!

8 years agoOur walk went very well! There were some very challenging coastal hills but it was a wonderful experience and we all felt that walking is actually very healthy for you once over the aches! Here is a photo after we had completed our walk! Thank you to everyone who has given us funds for equipping the classrooms as every little is going to help a long way for the children and their school. Monsoon rains are slowing the building process down a bit but we will be ready to help when they need it! Thank you for such wonderful support.
