    Story

Many of you will know of the tragic and untimely loss of our fellow Malton & Norton RUFC member, Rob Stephenson, following a terrible accident in March this year.

At 9am on the morning of 3rd July 2016, five lycra-wearing forty-something wannabes will depart from Hendaye on the French Atlantic Coast to embark upon the “Raid de Pyrénéen” – an official 720km timed cycle challenge involving 11,000 metres (36,000 feet) of ascent across 18 gruelling Pyreneen Cols and all to be completed within the prescribed timescale of 100 hours!

We would like to dedicate our challenge to The Rob Stephenson Trust – the inspirational charity set up by Sam, Rob’s brother (http://robstephensontrust.com, registered charity number: 1166500) - which will give young people the opportunity to participate in sporting activities and benefit from the positive impact that this will have on individuals, communities and our wider society.

It would be massively appreciated please if you could take a couple of minutes to make a donation to this fantastic cause by clicking on the donate button on this page. Your help really will make a difference.

    Thank you.

After a gruelling 5 days of thundering hailstones and blistering sunshine, painful ascents and thrilling descents, spectacular views, burst tyres, a broken gear cassettes and a wipe out, we have made it!! Total time in the saddle 31 hours 35 minutes, average speed 22.8km/hr, 720km covered and 11,769meters climbed. We are "bonked" but thrilled with our achievement and the money raised in memory of Rob. Thanks so much for all your support. The Yorkshire Raiders- Massey, Hoppy, Fraser, Tom and Chip
