Story
Will you help Timothy raise over £500? We've raised £150 from the first page (closed 15 May) and are looking to hit the £500 total.
This is to support Clair Oates - a former cardiac sister at Mid Yorkshire Hospital, who is currently a nurse responsible for the health team within Challenge Ministries Swaziland (Elim Missions), which oversees the health of the children and community at Hawane Farm.
An important part of her role is in teaching and education. Subjects covered are safety in the home, hygiene, nutrition, emotional health and exercise, first aid, HIV/AIDS and TB, and issues around abuse. The health team often find there is little understanding of the difference between a minor illness and a life threatening one, which can often result in people seeking help too late and consequently dying of illnesses that could otherwise have been treated.
The Lane family (David, Elaine, Jonathan & Timothy) will be visiting Clair in August 2016 as part of a wider visit to South Africa. As part of efforts to support Clair in Swaziland Timothy Lane, age 11, will be riding from the Irish Sea across to the North Sea. On the ‘Sea-to-Sea’ ride he will cover over 130 miles, cross the Pennines and climb over 3000 metres. And all in just over 2½ days of riding.
Timothy will be supported on the ride by his Dad David Lane and Ron Jones who are all funding this journey themselves.
Tuesday 31st May (30 miles) starting from Workington, stopping at Keswick in the Lake District.
Wednesday (45 miles) sees them riding through Penrith to Alston with multiple hills.
Thursday (55miles) climbing up several hills including Crawleyside, down through Consett to finish in Sunderland.
Any donations given will be used to support Clair and Ministries in Swaziland.
