Story
Openreach colleagues across Glasgow will be undertaking the Glasgow Heritage Bridge walk across April 2023 (and possibly beyond) to support Dravet Syndrome UK. The first bridge walk is planned for Wednesday April 5th at 1pm. Future dates are the 13th and 18th of April with times TBA.
All our Openreach based colleagues in the ABH office are more than welcome to get involved and participate, with participants being asked to donate £5 each for the associated charity, Dravet Syndrome UK.
Often described as a complex form of epilepsy, Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. As well as experiencing severe, difficult-to-control seizures, children and adults with Dravet Syndrome have varying degrees of intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism, ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating and sleep.
Each year the charity needs to raise over £320,000 to keep providing much needed services, including providing emotional, practical, and financial support for families, raising awareness, and understanding among medical professionals and funding vital medical research to advance scientific knowledge of Dravet Syndrome.
Any donation whether it be from participants, colleagues across Openreach/BT Group or friends and family will go a long way to help support the 550+ families in the UK who live daily with the condition.
All donations are welcome and please get in touch with me or Rebecca Morris, if you have any further questions about the event or how to donate.
Many thanks,
Tony, Rebecca, and the Glasgow Network Infrastructure Team

1 year agoHi folks, Just wanted to post a quick update and to give a massive thank you to everyone that has donated to the page and helped us smash our target and to those who have taken part in the first bridge walk on the 5th April. We have another two dates in the diary for walks to be completed (13th and 18th April) and it will be great to see more of our colleagues take part and complete the walk. A bit of advice for those still to complete the walk, please remember and check the weather forecast haha Many thanks and good luck, Tony
