Weʼve raised £235 to plan a love and unity event in Barnsley to combat the post-referendum anger and division

    Barnsley, United Kingdom
Funded on Tuesday, 26th July 2016

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

In the wake of the referendum result there has been a lot of anger. Some members of our society feel unwelcome and unwanted and we want to combat that with a show of unity and love.

So we are having a 'love-in'!

There will be face paints, free lollies, balloons and hugs! We will have a love jar into which people can put messages of positivity. Most importantly of all there will be love!

This will happen at the Lord Mayor's Parade on 9th July where we will take part in the parade, followed by our own event in the town centre.

Any funds which we don't use for the event itself will be donated to some of the many charities supporting to isolated and vulnerable in our town.

Let's show the world what Barnsley is really about!

As a thank you to all who donate, a balloon will be given bearing your name and personal message to someone attending on the day. Just add your message on the donation page.

Thank you for your generosity so far.

A word from our self-appointed manager - We're doing a love festival because we were scared that people were going to fall out because of the vote. So we have done a love festival to show everybody that Barnsley is loving and kind. Everything's for free like balloons and lollies. I had an idea of doing a love jar. People put nice messages about Barnsley and our country in the jar. If you can come please do. If you think the same and you can't come, put your name so we know. We'll be at the Mayors Parade. Wow, we hit our target within 24 hours! Thank you so much! The town centre team have said we can take part in the parade on 9th July as well as have our own event so I've added a new target for potential extra costs. For those who donate, we would like to add your name and a message to one of the balloons we hand out on the day. Thanks for your support so far!
