Story
The objective of WACIT (www.wacit.org) is to develop a model of psychosocial support for children exposed to complex trauma and adversity around the world. Many charities, professional organizations and academic centres are collaborating in promoting awareness, safety and resilience-building for children experiencing war and ethnic conflict, displacement, violence, living on the streets and in extreme poverty.
In the next stage of the programme, I will be visiting charities in 6 Continents over 6 Weeks between October and November 2016, to train staff and volunteers in helping children in trauma. Combined with the training workshops, I will also participate in sports and arts events with the charities and children living in slums, favelas, disadvantage, or who are homeless. The events will take place in Greece, Turkey, Indonesia, Australia, USA, Brazil, Kenya and Tanzania.
Your generous support will be equally distributed to help children served by the following charities:
1. Children victims of ethnic displacement living in slums in Nakuru, Kenya. They are supported by the Friendly Action Network (FANET): http://www.thefanet.org. Funding will raise school fees (£80 annually) and uniforms for selected highly performing children.
2. Children and young people with disabilities who moved from orphanages in Rwanda to four care homes exclusively supported by The Gallagher Trust (www.thegallaghertrust.org.uk/). It costs £1,200 to fund each carer annually.
3. Aboriginal children in Australia living in extreme disadvantage and supported by Gunawirra (gunawirra.org.au). Funding will contribute to the 5 Big Ideas of cultural knowledge, nutrition, health, therapy and self-care.
Please share the vision of WACIT, and join in its implementation.
THANK YOU!

8 years agoThese girls and boys in Nakuru would not have been at school, despite their hard work and ability. They live in an urban slum but still have to pay school fees. A number of factors have helped them to achieve: their families and motivation, their teachers' perseverance, input from the NGO FANET, student volunteers from Egerton University, and your generous donations. Please help add more children to the next photo!

8 years agoUnderneath these 5 high rise buildings is a precious little preschool and in it are 24 children who all live in these flats or surrounds. It is a tragic place that makes the news almost weekly for the wrong reasons. Norma Tracy, CEO and Founder, Gunawirra, Australia
