Story
In June 2017 I am running the Race to the Stones, a 66 mile Ultra Marathon across the Ridgeway from Oxford to Swindon. I will complete the challenge in under 24 hours. I have never run anything like this before; it is a true challenge for me. I even have a 35 mile ‘training’ ultra in June!!

It is my aim to raise sponsorship for the Newbury Volunteer Police Cadets. I am the Head Leader for the Newbury Unit, which had its first meeting in early February 2017. We currently have 24 cadets enrolled in the initiative at Newbury. The objectives of the Volunteer Police Cadets are as follows:
• Promote a practical understanding of policing amongst all young people
• Encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship
• Support local policing priorities through volunteering and give young people a chance to be heard
• Inspire young people to participate positively in their communities
It is a requirement of all Volunteer Police Cadet units that 25% of members (all aged between 13-18) come from vulnerable backgrounds. It is a great initiative that provides opportunities for disadvantaged teenagers and actively looks to integrate young people into our community.

It is my intention to take all the Cadets away on a Summer Camp to the Lake District this year for a walking, adventure holiday. To that end I am looking for sponsorship so that all the Cadets can attend, irrespective of their background or financial means. I estimate that it will cost approximately £3000 to achieve this goal.
Please sponsor me with this challenge so that I can give our Cadets a truly memorable first year away. Any amount of money that you can spare is truly appreciated.

7 years agoJust wanted to drop you a line to thank all my wonderful supporters. I raised a whopping £4009 for the Police Cadets which has absolutely smashed my target. I could not have done it without the love and support of all my wonderful family, friends and colleagues. The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of our Cadet Unit. Next weekend we head on our trip to Brathay Hall in Ambleside and I will post some pictures so you can see just how your generous donations have been spent. Thank you all once again :-)
